To Read a Book

There’s that delicious feeling when you’re involved with a book, when you’re away from it and thinking of getting back to it. We read, last month, Tarzan of the Apes, and this month, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. One librarian couldn’t get into the G.L.P.P.S. book…then another approved. We’ll see how book club reacts. At first, I was captivated, then my critical mind and taste lessened the captivity, but I am not done with it yet. Perhaps part of the trouble is reading it stops and starts. Then maybe the trouble is that I’m listening to an audio book at the same time… Anyway, if any of you are thinking of joining the club, a good month to jump in! A light read, and the main character is delightful, and delighfully written. Which, prehaps is the same thing. :)

Tarzan is a fun, like reading a comic book. It’s gory. Mercy. But it’s cool. It’s a rag-tale more than a literary masterpiece, but would you rather be a literary genius or create an iconic character that appears on lunch boxes and  halloween parties?
